STARKVILLE – On Wednesday, February 02, 2022, Mississippi’s Institution for Higher Learning approved Mississippi State University’s selection of Thrash Commercial Contractors, Inc. for the additions and renovations to the Humphrey Coliseum. Thrash will be working in conjunction with Dale Partners and AECOM Sports to enhance the fan experience at all levels of the facility. The already historic venue will soon become one of the most impressive venues in all of college basketball.
Josh Thrash, President of Thrash Commercial Contractors, stated, “We are extremely excited to bring a new fan experience to the Hump. Our staff is ready to get to work and deliver a great finish product for bulldog fans all across the state.”
Thrash Commercial Contractors has consistently ranked in Mississippi Business Journal’s Top 100 Companies and has been a premier general contractor for 21 years. Thrash has built some of the largest projects in the state of Mississippi and continues to grow in the Southeast. The bid from Thrash was placed on January 20th and came in under the University’s allocated budget.
The upgrades will include concourse improvements by expanding the width, sightlines to the court, concession options, and restrooms. Thrash will be building a club level that provides premium ticket holders a dedicated entrance and lobby that leads down to a 6,000 square foot sideline to sideline club with nearly 580 club seats and loge suites for 80 people.
The architects at Dale Partners and AECOM Sports have also included exterior entry plaza upgrades, a relocation of Lakeview Drive, new office space for staff, and increased accessibility. The design has two grand lobbies announcing the entrances on the east and west sides that will offer views directly into the seating bowl.
Project Manager Justin Gordon of Thrash Commercial Contractors expressed, “This project is extremely important to us. It means so much to the company and the school. Our staff is the best in the state, and we’re ready to take on the challenge. There’s nothing simple about this renovation, but our staff has planned and delivered on countless occasions and that’s what we plan on doing here. The bulldog fans are in for a treat.”
Construction is expected to begin at the latter half of February 2022.
