The Humphrey Coliseum is a 9,100-seat multi-purpose arena located on the campus of Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi. The original multi-purpose arena opened in 1975. Nicknamed The Hump, it is home to the Mississippi State Bulldogs men's and women's basketball teams. It is the largest on-campus basketball arena in the state of Mississippi.

In February of 2022, Thrash Commercial Contractors was awarded the contract in a competitive bidding process for a total contract value of $37,200,800. Thrash’s team worked in conjunction with Dale Partners and AECOM Sports to enhance the fan experience at all levels of the facility. These additions and renovations transformed the historic venue into one of the most impressive venues in all of college basketball. The upgrades included concourse improvements by expanding the width, sightlines to the court, concession options, and restrooms. The project also included a club level that provides premium ticket holders with a dedicated entrance and lobby that leads down to a 6,000 square foot sideline-to-sideline premium fan experience with nearly 580 club seats and lounge suites for 80 people. Thrash’s construction team drastically improved the exterior appearance and atmosphere of the Humphrey Coliseum by constructing multiple exterior entry plazas.

The two main entrances on both the east and west side of the coliseum provide improved lighting with massive video boards, and an upgraded fan experience for optimizing ease of access and energizing fan interaction. The relocation of Lakeview Drive, new office space for staff, and increased accessibility are a few of the many upgrades.

Thrash completed these additions and renovations amidst a full year of Division-1 sporting events taking place at the Humphrey Coliseum. Thrash’s construction team coordinated construction amongst Mississippi State’s men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball games. Preparing and coordinating an active job site for televised games was a challenge that our construction team delivered professionally and meticulously.
